Welcome to the Cashu Book of NUTs. This book is nuts.

It is a streamlined guide to the Cashu Notation, Usage, and Terminology (NUTs). Instead of reading the specs in numerical order, I have grouped similar NUTs together so the protocol is easier to follow. Whether you are writing a wallet, running a mint, or just curious about Chaumian ecash, this layout should help you see how the pieces fit.

I want to be clear: I did not write the NUTs. All the credit goes to the original authors and contributors of these specifications. My contribution has been to sort them into a flow that makes the connections clearer.

Each chapter starts with a short introduction, then the NUTs themselves, unchanged. The goal is to make the technical details a bit friendlier without rewriting anyone else’s work.
